Terms of Service

Effective date: October 19, 2026
Last updated: October 19, 2026

Using the service

These terms apply to your use of KeyboardTest.dev. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service. The tester is free to use and does not require an account.

What the tester provides

The service offers browser-based key testing, rollover checks, possible chatter detection, event timing, typing statistics and downloadable reports. It is intended to help you understand the keyboard events your browser receives.

Test limitations

Results depend on your keyboard, operating system, browser, settings and device load. System shortcuts and hardware-only keys may not be available to the page. Chatter warnings and timing values are indicators, not a diagnosis or a guarantee of hardware condition. Confirm an issue with other checks before making repair, replacement or purchase decisions.

Your data and reports

You retain ownership of content you enter. Testing does not transfer ownership to the project. You are responsible for the reports you download and share. Test sessions are not backed up or synced; reloads and closing the page can clear them. Keep your own copy of results you want to retain.

Acceptable use

Do not disrupt the service, bypass security, attempt unauthorized access to its infrastructure, or use it in a way that infringes other people’s rights or violates applicable laws.

Availability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without a promise that it will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. Features may change or be discontinued. Offline access depends on your browser retaining cached app files.

Responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the project’s operator is not responsible for lost test data, inaccurate results, interruptions or indirect losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Privacy and external websites

Read our Privacy Policy for details about local processing and browser storage. External websites linked from this service have their own terms and privacy policies.

Updates and questions

These terms may change as the service evolves. The current version and last updated date will be shown here. For questions or feedback, visit KeyboardTest.dev on GitHub.
