Frequently asked questions
How do I test keyboard latency?
Press a key and check Event delay in the keystroke history. It measures the time from the browser creating the event to this page handling it. It does not measure the full delay from a physical key press to a response on screen, or your keyboard's polling rate.
How do I run a chatter test?
Press and release a key once at a time, then check the keystroke history for unexpected extra presses. Same-key intervals within the detection threshold turn red. Adjust the threshold using the slider beside Same-key gap; holding a key for operating-system auto-repeat does not count as chatter.
How do I test key rollover?
Hold several keys together and check that each lights up. Compare the screen with the keys you are holding.
How do I test for dropped keystrokes?
Press each key separately and check that it lights up and appears in the keystroke history. Repeat with the key combinations you use to look for missing presses. Compare your physical presses with the recorded events: the page cannot automatically count events that never reach the browser. Fn and some system shortcuts may not be detectable.
Why does the Fn key not light up?
Fn and some system shortcuts are handled by the keyboard or operating system. Browsers cannot reliably detect them. Green keys with dashed borders are excluded from test progress.
Does a red interval mean my keyboard is faulty?
A red interval flags a rapid repeat press within your chosen threshold. Fast manual tapping can also trigger it. It is a troubleshooting clue, not a hardware diagnosis.
Are my keystrokes uploaded?
No. Keystroke records stay in this page's memory and disappear on refresh. Preferences are saved locally; exported reports are downloaded to your device.
