Keyboard and typing data

KeyboardTest.dev processes keyboard events, event history, test statistics and typing-test input locally in your browser. The app does not upload this data to a server or require an account. Keyboard capture applies to this page while testing; it does not monitor typing in other websites or applications.

Local preferences

The app uses local storage to remember your theme, selected language, sound volume and chatter threshold. These settings belong to the browser profile and device you use and are not synced to an account. Test history and typing-test input are held in memory and are not saved by the app across page reloads.

Reports you download

When you choose to download a report, the app creates a JSON file locally. It can contain key event history, timing, test statistics and test settings. The file remains in your downloads until you remove it. Review it before sharing it, since key history can reveal what you pressed during a test.

Offline app files

A service worker can cache pages, scripts, styles and images so the tester can open offline after an online visit. These files do not include your test session. You can remove cached files and local preferences through your browser’s site data settings.

Cookies and analytics

The app does not set advertising cookies or include third-party analytics or advertising scripts. It uses browser storage for the functional preferences and offline files described above.

Website requests

Loading the website sends ordinary technical request information, such as your IP address, browser information and requested URL, to the hosting infrastructure. This is separate from the keyboard and typing data processed locally by the tester.

Your choices

Use Reset to clear the current test, reload or close the page to end the session, and use your browser’s site data settings to remove saved preferences and offline files. Downloaded reports must be deleted separately from your device.
